Paul Urkijo Alijo (Vitoria-Gasteiz, 1984). Since he was very young, Paul Urkijo has been passionate about cinema, illustration, literature, comics and fantasy, with a passion for reading history, mythology and traditional tales. In 2008 he graduated in Fine Arts and start working in audiovisual production, illustration and computer graphics. He soon began to write and direct his own short fiction and animation films.
In 2016 he wrote and directed his first feature film, Errementari, a fantasy film based on a Basque folk tale, available on NETFLIX. In 2022 he released his second feature film, IRATI, an epic historical fantasy film set in 8th century Navarre, which won the audience award at SITGES IFF and the San Sebastian Horror week, among other awards.
His films as screenwriter and director have won more than 130 national and international awards and have been selected widely worldwide.
